The "HANDLE" cut in the body is similar to that of the Ibanez "RootBeer-JEM" model
(and a few other past JEM models). It's my personal choice, and a few customers have had this done.
The handle interior is finished in flat-black.

The scallop job on this neck is flawless. There's no way we could capture the "flame" detail
present in the grain with the photo equipment used. Some of the pic's below may give an idea.

There's a custom, professional, hand-finished, tung oil, semi-gloss that feels better than factory.
The FLAME detail is also very visible on the back! This may be the best 550 neck I've worked on.
The finish feels like a cross between semi-gloss and natural wood. Real smooth!

The BACK PROFILE of this neck has been modified. It's very similar to the original 550 designs.
It's close to the back-radius of a "Saber", with just a little more thickness. Truly amazing.
I built one of these for myself w/this neck profile and I haven't played anything else since!

550's also have a wider fretwire "bead" than the JEM models.

Notice the nice HEFTY sheet-metal style screws on the pickguard detailing

1. This is a "Neck-Priority" switch. It's wired to turn the NECK pickup on, regardless of what other combination(s) you're using. i.e.; You can have "All Three" on at once, or have the Neck & Bridge on simultaneously. A combination not available in 3-pickup guitars using standard 5-way switching. (This brings you from "5" to "7" combinations.
2. This is the "ON-OFF" switch. using no potentiometers (or "knobs"), the output of the pickup goes directly to the amp with nothing to lower the amount of gain from the pickup. This can be modified for potential BUYER upon request and/or negotiation. Contact us for details.
3. This is a TAP/CANCEL option. The bridge pickup is wired to be in "Single-Coil" mode, when used in combination with the "Middle" pickup. When this switch is activated, the "Bridge" pickup is in full Humbucking mode when used in Bridge/Middle combo. This gives the player an additional TWO combination possibilities, bringing the total to NINE SOUND COMBINATIONS!

  The bridge is the original Lo-Pro-Edge; it's in GREAT condition, hardly looks used. It's been retro-fitted with a "Floyd-style" collet arm. The Ibanez trem-arms do not compare, so I retro-fit all these custom 550's w/this.
   If the buyer wishes (for the fee of the pickguard), [you] can have it replaced to accommodate your particular wiring choice/combo. Again, the pickguard will have to be replaced to accommodate alternate control knob/switching options.
   This guitar is set-up for action/intonation/trem tension to a .008 gauge string. If the buyer chooses a .009 gauge, I HIGHLY recommend [you] have us make the adjustments upon purchase to avoid complications.

The pickups are as follows:
BRIDGE - DiMarzio X2N, NECK - DiMarzio Fast-Track-1, The middle is a stock Ibanez "stacked" single/humbucker, which closely resembles the tone of an HS-2 model. It sounds very nice in combinations with the others, and really helps create a lot of vintage and "strat-like" characteristics.

This guitar was customized for HIGH output. Buyer can optimize or modify upon specific request. Contact us for details. We're willing to negotiate modifications into the price, please call.

Original serial number - Matching body & neck - Original hardware, fretwire, and paintjob.

I've done these tung-oil finishes for many years. I warranty them for as long as the customer own the guitar. This guitar is out of warranty [once sold], but I have NEVER got one back for repair.
If it's a local (Boston area, MA) sale, I'll be willing to extend the finish warranty for 2 years.
Call for details, I'm flexible, and I wouldn't want anyone else repairing this neck if possible.

The frets have also been custom crowned to provide superior action and great bending ability.

From the monitor used to make this page (ALIENWARE-NVIDIA S.L.I),
the color below most closely represents the actual color of the finish.
It's commonly refereed to as a "flip-flop", whereas there are undertones (or a midcoat)
of different shades giving it reflections of blues & reds. The headstock matches the body.

This comes equipped with DiMarzio "clip-lock" strap AND the original buttons if you prefer to switch.

IT'S THE ONE ON THE LEFT

The LEFT and the RIGHT one are the SAME color. The one on the right is a year older,
a little bit different in person (hardly noticeable), but the lighting from the photo causes
this flip-flop paintjob to reflect differently. The paintjob has only a couple of small marks.
No damage to the front. From the front you'd think it was brand new.
